Remember when...

I would actually do this and update this all the time?

I do.

school is crazy. and sometimes hard. so I don't really have free time. ok, i just dont have free time to be hanging out on the computer.

For one of my classes I have to be positive. So instead of writing about how i've been crying and stressed, i'll say the following:

Southgate house parties are the best.
I love that even though it gets colder as the day goes on, the sun wakes me up. basically everyday.
my ward is BOMB.
I've done an okay job with getting ready everyday.
I am OBSESSED with our indoor track. OBSESSED i tell you.

and thats all, for now.

there will be another posting or so soon.ish.
get excited.

I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaack

So its been a little bit of time. Since then I've:
flown to the little city
met tons of people
helped freshmen become acquainted with the little city's campus
moved in and decorated my apartment
attended classes
gotten used to my curly hair
bought a frame for my tiffany's ad
gotten lots of homework done
fell in love with my anatomy class
took a test on the 3rd day of school and got a 95% on it.
cooked real food for myself( ok a little bit of an exaggeration)
woken up at decent hours
forgotten about faebook
got feather extensions in my HAIR
andddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd loved life.

Basically even though i've only been here for about 2 weeks i've already seen how much I've grown. I loved my get connected experience, because I was able to learn so much about myself, others and what I love about others...and what I don't. My group was the freaking BOMB. During our training days, I was really worried and anxious that I couldn't sleep the night before because I thought my freshmen would seriously hate my guts and never come to anything. And it would be my fault. but surprise! the first activity 29 showed up, and then on more and more came and no one stopped coming. in the end we had over 45 because I stopped taking attendance, while most group averaged 5-15. I loved it because these kids were so fun and really laid back. Anything went, everyone was friends and they were just so great. I bet they're glad though that its all over because now this crazy redhead has stopped sending them 3-4 texts a day saying what and where they needed to be.

As far as classes go, they are sooo great. I have 3 on campus and 2 online, and even though at first I didn't want that, it's working out to be the best thing for me. I have more free time to study and so its really all working out.

This is my 3rd semester living with the same 4 girls, plus one of our cutest little friends moved in with us, and to celebrate we all were originally going to get feather extensions. we got there and 2 girls decided to get colored extensions, and me and E got the feathers. we're sort of obsessed.

that's life in a mini nut shell for me.

You have GOT TO BE KIDDING

my luck for the month of april has been a joke. let me just list the things that have happened..in the past week (but really in the past 10 hours)

1. laptop commiting suicide=needing repair
2. Ipod took a swim in the toilet. how? i was in a hurry had it in my pocket, went to grab something, then bam. thankfully this ipod is a champ and still loves me.
3. went to wash a blanket. the washer broke. I mean really? what have I ever done to it. I LOVE to do laundry, and follow its exact instructions. always.
4. went to print my boarding pass. bam printer jams. but not like a little jam. but a-my-hands-hurt-bc-the -paper-kept-ripping-into-pieces-and-wouldn't come out. but then I won. and decided to try again, thinking it was just a freak accident. nope. round two occurred.
5. Did I mention that my phone has been silly today? It wouldn't let people call me. its been doing this recently. but i'm going to pretend it's because super precious to me.

now normally, I would just be annoyed and laugh it off. but guess what? If you refer back to number 4, you see that I was printing a boarding pass. that's right. to fly. meaning I hope this is a short curse that goes away at night because i reallllllllllllllllllly don't want anything to go wrong. now if the tornado, hail severe thunderstorms could not delay my flights. that'd be great.

but on one note i am sad i'll be missing them, because I LOVE severe weather. minus the tornado's though.

next time I update this, i'll be in the little city. (if i make it) eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek

Just helping society, one post at a time

This might be a post a little more on the sassy, bratty side. But it needs to be done. My pet peeves that I see/read all the time need to be addressed. I'm really doing this out of love for all of you, and to those you meet in which you will then share these new life long words of wisdom. Shall we begin? Yes. Let's.

#1. The phrase "could care less" NOW you're saying, Allison, what is wrong with this phrase. I hear it all the time, I say it often, so what gives.

Let me tell you and explain to you what is wrong?

if you honestly, COULD care less, then you wouldn't be bringing up whatever was bothering you. Think about it. Here I'll give you an example. Let's say you're talking to someone about the ugly shirt they are wearing. Your friend is going on and on and on about how they think it is just fabulous, but you're over the conversation. You then say "I could care less" This is wrong, because you COULDN'T care less anymore, hence why you want the conversation to end. The phrase that society cannot get straight should be

I COULDN'T CARE LESS.

understand? good. let's move on.

the next phrase I have been seeing about 100 million times a day (give or take) is the saying "JUST SAYIN"
This one set's me off like no other. Why? because hardly anyone seems to ever use it right. This is supposed to be used more for things when you are applying something you might have done in the past, or an idea you're presenting.  using it when saying "I LOVE PIZZA AND POPCORN AND I WANT TO EAT A LOT...just sayin" means nothing. if you're just going to say it, then say it. the "just sayin" is not necessary.

Like I mentioned earlier, i know this is a little bratty, but thats ok, right? because you all know i'm a brat anyway.

Awkward and Awesome

Let's just jump into this, because these series of happenings are enough to deal with

Awkward:
1. How out of shape I am. Eating that daily bowl of ice cream, with very little exercise has caught up to me.
Oh how the walk to the ricks, and the daily fitness routines that i have planned will be the death of me. please still be my friend you guys.
2. A few days of my room being a disaster/war zone/ tornado alley replica and my dad walking past my room asking what the heck happened to my room. my response "....just some cleaning"
3.How emotional I am now. I used to ALWAYS make fun of my sister and how she could and would cry at the drop of the hat for anything that happened. I'm not saying I'm as insane as she is, but i'm definitely not as heartless as I used to be.

AWESOME
1. MY PACKING SKILLS ARE FREAKING ROCKING! I went through all my clothes, and really thought about what I wear, what I don't and forced myself NOT TO PLAY THE WHAT IF GAME! I might even have a little wiggle room in those maletas. Go ahead United, see if you can charge me $50 for being overweight.
2. Realizing that even though I got ripped off for the amount I have to pay for my laptop, that I did get away with a $70  dollar fee. All I will say is that it pays to be a young college girl, who went in alone, and cared what she looked like that day.
3. extreme couponing. One day, I aspire to be like those women.

I feel like that is all for now. I have nothing too huge or life changing happening right now. TV and packing and clothes have been consuming my life.

Also. someone please make this

25 facts about yours truly

Ok, so this is my own sort of tradition that I do every 4ish months. Before and after each semester I write down 25 facts/goals/interests/worries/WHATEVER about myself. I put it in my journal. and then look back on it after a semester has passed. It sort of is a quick thing that shows how i've changed, or how dramatic I was etc. So I decided to share (SOME) of my list items with all of you :) YAY!

1. I thought I was ok with turning 20, and now that it's even closer I sort of want to cry.
2. I WILL put a strip of teal in my hair this semester.
3. Finish the Book of Mormon by July 25th
4. i need to meet new people.
5. I need to be a better friend
6. I still want the AE perfume bohemian
7. My favorite song right now is must be dreamin by Kevin Rudolf
8. I still reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallly miss you
9. I never realized how much of Chile life is in my own upraising and lifestyle.
10. I hate soup. Hate it.
11. I'm doing fabulous with my new years resolution. HOLLA at wearing more jewelry
12.When I left F21 for the last time for who knows how long, all I wanted to do was cry.
13. This winter I want to go to Ecuador and work in an orphanage. Or India.
14. I'm really starting to want to go sky diving
15.I dislike that my room is a complete disaster because i'm in the middle or laundry, sorting, and packing for school
16. 99% of the time I love my school. 1% I wish I had never decided to go there.
17.Everyday for the past 4 month I have eaten a bowl of ice cream. That needs to end right now.
18. This semester will definitely be used to rid myself of the bad in my life.
19. I hate that my laptop broke. that whole situation stresses me out so badly, and it always seems like i have the worst luck with any sort of technology.
20. marriage still terrifies me.
21. *I don't think i'm beautiful, but i'm prettier than most
22. The one before me was a joke. I'm sarcastic and a brat
23. The weather in the mitten, needs to change. i'm sick of the 30's-40's no sun, with snow and rain.
24. I have dreams every single night that are clear as a whistle and that are pretty legit. I want them to be analyzed.
25. I can't decide if I need to open up more to people, or less.

NOW that you may or may not have learned a thing about me, I challenge the rest of you to go and do the same. :) why, because its FUN! Take some time to think about it and then do itttttttttttttttttttttttt. Oh and then tell all of your friends to do it.

Terrific Tuesday round...does it even matter?

Sometimes being happy is just annoying. When the things you think should go your way, just don't. I feel like I'm trying to be happy, but i'm not doing to great of a job to actually be happy. I'm not hitting rock bottom, or going through close to anything as awful as others, but sometimes it can just be happy with the situations at hand.

This past weekend was my church, THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER DAY SAINTS' General Conference. This is where the authorities of our church speak to us, in 4 different 2 hour sessions spread over Saturday and Sunday. I'm not going to lie, when I was younger I only liked conference because that meant staying home and not having to get ready for church, getting up whenever, and more of just a free day. I was a heathen, I know. But now that I listen more, and realize HOW much conference talks apply to my lives, I look forward to the first weekend in April and in October. I definitely have a few favorite talks from this weekend, but one that is definitely applying to life right now was Paul V. Johnson from the 70. It was conveniently on trials, and how they build character, bring blessings to our lives and are so important for progression in our lives. He made a great point to say that we all want growth without challenges but that isn't ever going to happen.

With that being said i'll stop being annoyed and think of the reasons as to why this is a terrific tuesday

1. General Conference this past weekend. Definitely taught me a tonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn. and i mean A TON.

2. It is my very.last.tuesday.in.the.mitten. HOORAY!

3. It's TOMS one day without shoes

4. My parents are so kind to pay $445 for my bratty laptop to get fixed.

so there. sometimes when you think you're life isn't how you want it, stop and think to yourself all that you actually have. And for those who aren't LDS, and would like to learn more about General conference, tell me and I can help you find the talks. They can apply to ANYONE not just mormons :)

Also. listen to this song. I love it

Let's help the addict OUT!

Hi. My name is Allison. And I am addicted to nail polish. In the past year and a half, I have gone only 4 consecutive days without having them painted and that was a conscious decision and a reminder everyday, but I eventually broke down. I'm not above blaming others, so this definitely started with my first semester away at school thanks to my future roommate Erika. We were always together and hanging out, and she loves nail polish, and so I began to pay more attention to my nails.

Now this is where all of you come in.

What are some cute tricks or prints or patterns to try out for my nails? what do YOU think are the must have colors?! tell me tell me tell ME! I want my collection to be well rounded and just perfect, and i need to know. also what do i do if some of my colors are drying out? there's got to be a way to save them. right??

Also, feel free to donate nail polish if you feel inclined.

**can I tell you that this was the FIRST thing that popped up on stumbleupon.com for me today, if that isn't fate, i dont know what is!

In other random news about me, that I am willing to share, my appropriately named laptop, Diva is at sleep-away camp (aka Staples) and has been since yesterday. Her return date is sometime before the 9th and better be pretty soon because I miss her. The touchpad ordeal has been acting crazy and now that viruses were ruled out by the computer guy he thinks it could be the "motherboard" I don't know too much about laptops, besides that the motherboard and problems should NEVER ever be in the same sentence. Apparently the guy thinks if that is the problem, that replacing diva would just be the best option. but that's not happening.

So could someone just PLEASE say april fool's already? because its the 3rd of April, and I still havent found out that these little events (among others) are jokes, when I really wish they were.

Also, I really love this quote

ok, the end.

Can you just tell me April Fool's already???

Sometimes, I don't think life and I get along. I feel like it hates me once in awhile, or just wants to show me that it can be a bigger Diva, or better at being a brat than me. And sometimes I let it win. Because it is the only option. Lately I feel like that's all its been, is a competion against life, and I'm not winning. Can I tell you why?

Jobs and me getting one seem to be the biggest thing life likes to tease me with. The job I applied for back in December, interviewed for in early March has.still.not.gotten.back.to.me. The people conducting the interview said 4-5 weeks. The people in the office told me 6-8 weeks. So which is it? because not knowing makes me go crazy.

Another office I applied to, emailed me back saying that they would conduct interviews for a position at the beginning of the semester if there was any more need for an employee. This email was actually sent twice, once by the manager of the office, and the other by an employee. But the employee had sent me a message saying the office "had received my test." Hmmmm, that's funny, I haven't taken any tests, and definitely haven't sent any into the office. Part of me wants to email them back, asking for THIS employee's job, because obviously emailing people the right information, is out of their league. Whatever, I really am over it.

The one thing I really wanted to discuss, isn't really blogging appropriate, because I'll never know who will read this. but just know this. Today, at many points I really wanted to just say that all that was happening was just a huge april fool's trick. But instead, I found myself asking, "Is this real life?!" But that's ok now, because April Fool's day is almost over, and the big joke on me will be ending. Can I PLEASE get a hoorah?!

I don't really like to end on bad notes, or upset with problems, because you can't really end a day or begin a day with a bad attitude. So can I turn missionary on you all for a few moments? Thanks.
Last night while I was reading the Good old Book Of Mormon, I read chapter 4 of Mosiah. First of all, can I say that it is a fantastic chapter? I just want to share one verse, 6. It talks about  putting your trust in the Lord, and follow his commandments and also to have faith until the very end. I thought that it was very fitting because that is really something I needed to hear, even on this not so very joking day, that if I stay faithful and trusting, in the end it will work out. I hope this verse helps you guys as much as it is for me at the moment.

THE list

So I often read other blogs, and today's LOVELY  and oh so classy post will be coming by way of Steph's asking. She copied another blog on a list of things she likes in a guys, and requested I do the same. And since I have nothing to do with my life, and often think about this, i decided why the heck not. Before I begin, some of these might be thought of shallow, or ridiculous, but that's ok, because that just means we have different tastes in guys, AND you won't steal my "one"

now let's stop wasting time.
The only thing you need to know to win my heart?

1. Be cool.

oh wait. you want to know what MY definition of cool is? ok.

for starters, if you're from UTAH or IDAHO and want to live their for the REST of your life, then just disregard this whole entire message, because we just really aren't meant to be.That doesn't mean we can't be friends, it just wont ever be anything more than that. Also, i can tell when you're being fake. so don't be.

And now i've edited this post a few times, and my list was CRAAAAAAAAAAZY long, so I decided to shorten it and group ideas together.

The shallow qualities
1. Be fit and in shape. My major is exercise physiology. the 1st word is exercise. If i'm trying to take care of my body, you better be right there with me. no beer bellys,or wimpy arms. just 100% buffness.
2. please have a sense of Style. if i'm going to make myself presentable, you better be able to as well.
3.Play sports, or  at least be active. but if you aren't the best, and you're just doing it for fun that is acceptable.
4.No wimps please. Let's face it. I AM A BRAT. and if I can step all over you, and boss you around, then it will be miserable for the both of us. I need a good sass-ing back. and often.
5.Come shopping with me, and be honest. If i ask for your opinion, and you give me something I just want to hear, it won't be good.

The qualities that are NON-negotiable
1. Be my friend. that means be normal around me at first, get to know me, go along with my silly plans, tell me that i'm being ridiculous. ask me to hang out with your friends, and hang out with mine. BE CASUAL.
2. Earn my trust. You have to be my friend first to earn this. And trusting people to me is a pretty great accomplishment on your part if you actually get me to trust you.
3. Love your family. I absolutely LOVE hearing if you have sisters and how you learned different "style" tricks, or different things from them and how you have a soft side for them. I will melt when I hear these sort of things.
4. be responsible. that means have a job. 5. tell me stories. stories about high school. about your mission. about embarrassing things. anything.
6.Pay attention to the little things I say. You can learn alot about me this way.
7. be original. i'm not a chocolates and flowers for a date or any sort of occasion kind of girl. That doesn't mean you have to spend money on other things, but this could be replaced with...cooking for me?
8. Get me to do things that I don't want to do. but i have to trust you first. which means you better be my friend first. which means you should already know the certain few things that i WILL.NOT.EVER.DO. game over if you think you'll get me to do whatever may be at the time that i dont want to do.
9. Listen to when I talk, and get me to talk about my feelings or problems. I'll put up a fight/front, and sometimes I do it, just to see if you'll fight hard enough. mean, I know, but remember, i'm a brat.
10. Be thankful and humble if I do things for you.
11. Be strong in the church, and have a testimony
11. be confident. but not cocky. I can't stand cockiness
12. Make me laugh. hard. it doesnt matter what you're doing, but just make me laugh.
13. Study hard. There is N.O.T.H.I.N.G cute about failing, or not caring about school subjects.

Things I LOVE
1. call me just to talk. I don't care if you're in the same town and can just come over (although I would much rather like that) but if you're calling or texting, even about something small i will love it.
2. I love a little rebel streak. Squeaky clean boys that are always nice are boring for a girl like me. I don't want any jail or juvie guys, but just a little rebel.
3. Bonus but DEFINITELY not required, if you're a strong buff guy, but you can play any instrument or can sing, and sing for me i will LOVE it.
4. Sing to me anyways. even if you're a horrible singer, it just will be that much cuter.
5. watch cute movies with me. so i can cuddle with you.
6.I love, love LOVE big strong guys, and their super strong hugs. I melt.

Judge me all you want, but one day i'll find the guy.

Terrific Tuesday...round 3?

First of all, please watch this.

I saw this last night on my friends facebook, and have really used it as a learning experience. I want to help those around me, even if it is in minor ways. I think that if we all adapt this mans thinking that we will be able to help others and be happier. Just like in Mosiah 2:17, when it states when we are in the service of our fellow being, we are in the service of our God. Soo... go out and serve. ok?

I am really liking this day. Why?

1. It is SUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNYYYYYY! I love the sun. I live for the sun. The sun is my best friend.

2. We got chinese food for dinner. I know I bash on the little village for its awfulness, along with this entire state, but if there is one positive thing about it all, is that this village (and surrounding cities) have A-MA-ZING food. This chinese place happens to be super cheap, and is located right next to the projects of Flint-town. Yay for safe places!

3. One less day left until school.

4. I once again was shown how I truly have some of the best friends a girl could ever have.

5. I have loving parents. They say funny things to me, tease me and still love me at the end of the day.

6. I've been full on into my habit of reading my scriptures daily for awhile now, and loving how they're applying to my everyday life. I'm seeing how everyday, I can find the verses and chapters I'm reading to be applicable to all that I need it, and its making me happier.

overall. i'm really trying to follow the example of the man in the video. serve serve serve. if any of you have any good ideas, or are in need of anything let me know :)

And then there were 2

So these days are definitely passing quickly. I don't have too much longer here, but I'm finding myself too confused with what the heck i'm supposed to do with my time. Eat all the foods that only the village offers? I'm working on it. Staying up late with no consequences like early morning classes? check. But I still am having a hard time trying to fill my days up so that I am not focusing on how close I actually am to leaving.
Yesterday was my very last Sunday in the Home ward. And can I let you know that I'm a little sad. I love my college ward tons because it's so fun to be around other people my own age, but the little people here at home have become my little friends. Sure they're only 4, and will probably never remember me, but I just LOVE them. I loved how honest they always are. Whether they're complimenting me on my outfits and accessories, or telling me that they didn't want to sit next to me, but instead far far away from me, they were just honest. They're cute little stories in their cute little voices about daddy daughter dances, or Spiderman, or what kind of cake they had for their birthday made my day. The fact that some knew my name, or to others I was just "the redhead" was absolutely hilarious. All because they were just the cutest little things. I'm sure that none of you actually care to hear, or see them, but to me they were just my little friends

I dare you to tell me that this picture wasn't cute or funny.

One thing that these little ones have taught me is to always be honest, and to forget the bad easily. Sometimes they were having a rough day, but yet they still came along while still trusting that they will have fun, and eventually they did.

now....what do i do with the next 12 days?

Note to self:

Alright so remember this post?

well its actually getting a round two. I got on Facebook earlier today, and saw that my dear friend Kailie mentioned that one of the classes had switched to a new time. A time when I had a different class. I was faced with the huge decision as to which to keep. Religion or fitness. Fitness won, with little consideration, seeing that there are a million religion classes I still have to take, and it would be easier to replace. But for some reason, as each minute went by where I was trying to find the right religion class and the right time, the more impatient, upset and angry I got. Even a trip to target didn't even fix the problem. In the end I was able to get it all squared away. I still have my 17 credits( plus i'll be taking a test to earn another 4) but now i'll have 2 online classes and 4 classroom ones to attend.Has this ever happened to anyone else, or is this just more of my luck? Basically i've learned that I can't get so attached to a schedule. and apparently, I still need to work on accepting change. oh well. at least it's warm outside.......................... oh wait.

Yes, I do realize how dramatic this is, but what else would you expect from me?

Awkward...for you

So for this post I decided to do a little bit of a twist on Awkward and Awesome thursday. Things that only I find awesome, but are probably a little more on the awkward side for everyone else. Yeaaaaa Buddy!

1. Yesterday I played hide and seek for a full hour.....with my dog. Think what you want, but being the only "kid" home, leaves me plenty of time to hang out with Lucy.

2. That is me, feeding Lucy a Medium Vanilla Ice Cream Cone from Dairy Queen. Here at home, in the village, everyone gets ice cream. Now pick your jaw up off the floor and keep your hatin' comments to yourselves.

3. The amount of these i've eaten in the past 20 or so days....it may or may not be close to the number of days that have passed that they've been around. Judge me all you want, but these are heaven to me.

4.**this next one is a little...morbid? so skip it if you have a problem with things like this**

Ok so this sort of thing needs a little bit of a background history of me. Something many of my College friends might not know about me, is that I love love LOVE dissections, anatomy or dead animals for that matter. Some of My favorite days of my life were when we got to dissect the fetal pigs, or the mink my senior year. (there were plenty more but i dont feel like mentioning them) This past fall in bio 264, the cadavers definitely topped any other life experience for me, because it was the coolest thing.....ever. now back to my awesome/awkward experience number 4. As I was on a usual nature walk with my dad, I came across this beauty
That would be a deer hoove. Was I excited? Absolutely. Immediately we started looking for clues to find the rest of the deer. We first found 2 different spots of fur scattered everywhere, a rib in another spot, and the vertebrae close by. The skull was a little trickier as it had been a little further from the rest of these items. I have pictures of all of it, but since this is a "classy" blog, I decided to do without them. You're welcome..I suppose. These types of finds make living in this ridiculous village a little less brutal. Thanks Bambi, you're the best for takin one for the team!!

And on that note.... the end :)

Dear Allison....

I know, its the second post of the day, but I have nothing else to pass the time.

Let's all state the obvious. I'm a worrier. I'm a person that can't really do spontaneous things, unless I know that I won't get into too much trouble. (contradictory, I know)  Today I found this, and felt like Mark Twain was speaking right to me. A new semester for me is coming up, and I feel like this little letter from Mr. Twain to me will need to be plastered everywhere so I learn to let loose and live a little.

Can I let you in on a secret?

Don't ask me where this even came from, but I was thinking about things I would like to accomplish in my life. Things I want to see, where I want to go, things I want to experience, and as I was looking on Facebook I came to this thought. I REALLY want to witness a homecoming of a missionary that is a complete stranger to me. I mean I've been to the slc airport 8 times now in the past year and a half and still haven't gotten to see one. What time do these boys ship in?! I always keep my eye open for them but they are no where.

For those friends who aren't sure what I'm talking about, a mission is something that young men do for our church. As a part of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, young men are asked to give 2 years of their time between the ages of 19 to 25 to devote 2 full years of their lives to sharing the gospel with the world. For the majority of these guys, they leave at age 19 and come back at age 21. Young men are taught in the church that they are supposed to do this, yet it is ultimately their decision to go. They fill out paperwork, go through interviews and physicals months prior to their 19th birthday to prepare to receive their call. When it finally comes in the mail, some will have huge parties to celebrate the opening of their call, telling them where they are headed, because they really have no say as to where they go. Each of these missionaries are called to an area, I feel for a purpose. They then head to the Missionary Training Center to learn the language they'll speak and learn how to share the gospel. This is a huge commitment on their part, along with their families because they have to put school on hold, don't have cell phones, or internet priveleges except to a specific email address that only immediate family can contact them through. the rest of the contact comes from letters via snail mail, and they get 4 phone calls the entire 24 months. 2 for christmas, and 2 for mother's day. and that's it.

For girls, missions are a little different. they can serve at the age of 21, and for 18 months. We are not asked to serve, but given the choice. I'm so thankful for that, because now being at the age where my guy friends I have made are around the globe, I'm realizing the trials and efforts they go through and how much preparation it actually takes.

I can't even begin to describe to you how happy and proud I am of all the guys I know that are out on their missions right now. Looking and reading the different messages they share about their current experiences are such testimony builders for me becuase I know that their efforts and progress are helping people all around the world. I know none of them will ever read this, considering that at the earliest, they won't come back until late summer and another 2 years for those preparing to leave, but I want them all to know that I am praying for them, and that I am thankful they have lived their lives thus far to be worthy enough to take on this task.

Now back to what I was saying at the way beginning. I think it would be fun to witness a stranger's homecoming because even though I know nothing about the person, where they served, their stories etc, I know that they were doing the Lord's work, and that no matter where they were that they were choosing the right and helping people. You can see the reuniting of the parents and I'm sure it is an experience, that even though they are strangers will still make anyone cry.

that being said, maybe I'll fly out a few days early, and live in the airport till someone shows up. anyone want to join??

**disclaimer. These pictures are from google. My friends are much better than these missionaries, but i felt weird taking their pictures from their facebooks

Terrific Tuesday..Round 2

It's days like this, I'm glad that I have things like my grateful journal, or this new concept of Terrific Tuesday so I don't focus on the negative things that may be going on in my life. Nothing too major, but the fact that it is snowing could put a damper on a day, or thinking about the fact that I almost had a psyco 6th roommate for this coming spring really could have made this into a terrible day.

so let us begin to learn why this is a terrific day, shall we?

1. My VERY BEST friends. I've been talking to a few certain people lately who definitely classify as my very best friends. They make today a terrific tuesday because they're the ones that are pushing me out of my shell in ways that need it. They're the ones that I can tell  stories about happenings in my life and they'll help me through them. These best friends also come to me with the worries that they have, because for some crazy reason they trust me too. So thank you to you  because you are definitely going to be kept around for........forever. hope you don't mind :)

2. We have Cheezits in the house. yesssssssssssssssssssssssssss. These are my favorite things in the world, and make me so happy.

3. The third thing is more of a general-grateful idea rather than something that has happened to me, but something I definitely wanted to blog about. I'm really grateful for my parents and the way that they have raised me. Today I was reading about another girls huge misfortune and I'm so happy that my parents have taught me better. I am grateful for their protection and their teachings and really just everything they have done for me and will continue to do for me. Without them, this day probably wouldn't be terrific. So shout out to them! Even though they will probably never read this :)

is patience really necessary?

Everything I realize requires me to be patient. And if you know me, I love when things are just quick and when I know everything I need to learn. And lately everything I have to do is requiring me to be patient.
Having to be patient while I wait for my strawberry cheesecake to "chill for an hour" even though the box tricked me and said 15 minutes prep, and I wanted the cheesecake then. Having to be patient for my clothes to finish drying. Having to be patient waiting for the first week of April which will ultimately determine my summer plans. Having to wait for the next week as I head back to the little city. See everything is making me wait around.

I suppose this is all to help me prepare for other bigger things in my life where patience will be necessary. Patience really is a virtue, and we as society are always expecting things to be just instant. I think that because of that we don't always take the time to enjoy the little adventures that we all have while we are waiting for whatever it is that we're waiting for.

A challenge for myself and for any of you; try to be patient this week with whatever it is that you need to wait for.
While I TRY to wait patiently, I'll be listening to this song, because Lupe Fiasco definitely sums it up for me.
And if you were wondering about how my cheesecake turned out, it wasn't very good. I even waited a little longer than an hour for it to chill, but we've already all discussed that my baking skills are......................a little underdeveloped.

Best News EVER!

Let's just get straight to the point. I just bought my tickets out to the little city. Normally I have to fly to SLC and then drive the 4-5 hours to town, but GUESS WHAT?!

the flying world decided to be nice to me and LET ME FLY TO IF! That means no driving, and its just a quick nice convenient trip. plus I still only have 1 layover and that is it. no extreme hours or an entire day of traveling. can we just all take a moment to enjoy this with me, because the chances of my round trip flights being as cheap as it was this time probably won't happen again.

ok. that's enough. now why is it that I want to so badly avoid flying into slc?
well let me just tell you. about 2 weeks ago I got the privilege to fly out to school for a visit/job interview. the flight out west was.....pretty miserable. It started out with my sleeping an hour and leaving for the airport at 4:30 AM. I flew from flint to detroit, and normally this is supposed to be a 10 minute flight. they had built in some time for weather, and so that was fine. We boarded the TINY aircraft on time, and I got to my seat (way back window seat) we sit. and sit. and sit. and sit. and sit. 45 minutes pass. we're still sitting. 50 minutes we're still sitting. we're watching them defrost the wings. ok ok. for the first little bit it was a little entertaining. but i was tired. and I just wanted to get to the destination. we couldn't listen to music, or use our phones as we were still just sitting on the runway, and an hour has now passed. I start to really go crazy at this point. I hate small spaces and we have been sitting for the longest time. another 10 minutes pass. they still are defrosting. I have never so badly wanted off a plane, and I am still to this day convinced I could have done the job faster with an ice scraper. after an hour and a half we FINALLY take off. that was easily the longest flight of my life. in fact we were even late to detroit. a 10 minute flight is late.

WHAT A JOKE.

fast forward to the next flight to denver. i get on the plane, nbd, and we land. i go check the monitor to find my gate. I see the words that NO PASSENGER EVER WANTS TO SEE. CANCELED . I didn't want to just stand there, so I walked to the gate that it was supposed to all while trying to contact my parents. after a few failed attempts of no answers to any phone I called, I continued walking trying not to think so i wouldn't cry  but really,i'm  freaking out, but i continue to walk. finally my dad calls me back i tell him whats going on, but by this time i'm starting to tear up. my dad tells me "call delta, or talk to someone and tell them what is wrong" i answer by saying, i dont have their number, and i have no idea what i would say to them" "well what do you think you say, tell them that your flight is cancelled, and ask them what flight they're going to put you on" CLICK! i hung up. i didnt want to start full on crying right in the middle of the denver airport, because that was exactly what was about to happen. After calling him back, I was able to figure out how to solve the problem, and I was put on the next flight. Wooooooooooooooooooooooooo I had survived.

I got to SLC and waited for my shuttle. It finally arrived, and I thought my nightmare had ended. it had not. About 2 hours into it, the Tire blew.and we ended up sitting on the side of the road until the next one came 2 hours later. It was insane.

so needless to say, I was over the whole traveling. Now do you get why I'm so excited to be able to have this chance?! WOOHOO! bring on school and traveling!

For Japan

I just saw this on my  friend Steph's blog and would love to incorporate this on my own blog. We all know about the devastating tragedies that occurred recently and are continuing in Japan and because of this I want to make a post specifically for Japan. This natural disaster hits a little closer than I would like it to because of the earthquake last year that occurred in Chile where my entire family on my mom's side lives. I know the panic that the Japanese people are going through now, and for that I would really like to encourage everyone to pray for these people, and their families to be able to get through this trial. If you are able to, please donate anything to a trustworthy charity or get involved in charities locally. Remember that anything will help and with the support, these people will be able to overcome this rather large trial.

Awkward and Awesome Thursday

So this little idea I got from a fashion blog called The Daybook. Basically that blog will change your life. So head over there and learn a few things. With every thursday I'll just post a link of a few awkward happenings, but then some awesome ones to equal the other ones out. I won't have too many awkward ones until April, but then after that I'm sure there will be close to 1000 things on this list

AWKWARD
1. Knowing that if I leave the house today, I will get at least one comment referring to St. Patrick's day, and the fact that I have red hair. I'll just have to do the usual smile nod and let them think they were original. If it makes their day better, then it will make mine too...i guess.
2. Having my parents ask me when I'm going to change my clothes yesterday, because they were obviously not fans of my choice of outfit.
3. This isn't so much recent, as it is a habitual thing. Having people ONLY talk to me to find out when i'm leaving. This is more of a church thing, but I never know how to respond after I say April  ___
4. Finally this video

this has got to be the most awkward/worst music video I have ever watched. This poor girls life. and so many great things to just poke fun at and quote in the worst ways possible. Rebecca Black, whoever you are, may you be able to move on with your life quickly and not be traumatized for the rest of your life.

AWESOME
1. Waking up this morning to my new top coming in the mail. Remember my practically free one? yup that's the one that came!
2. Announcing to my mother that today I was actually going to get completely ready. her response- "ok, but if you're not wearing green, i'm going to pinch you!"
3. The Sun is STILL OUT!
4. my hair today actually turned out cute, presentable, and a little different.
5. the satisfaction of knowing that my mom knows the words to ridin' solo, black and yellow, and billionare because of me.
6. This girl's talent

seriously. watch it. she's so AMAZING. I love this song, and her voice is great. I hope she makes it big,and gets her own "offical" video like the Rebecca Black girl got. Because this video would prooooobbbaabbly be a little better. ok. A LOT better.

oh and one video. this one is courtesy of Steph. she seems to have this knack of finding weird videos from the 80's that have to do with dating. I can't decide which category this one really fits in, because its so awesome because it is so awkward. Plenty of quotable things from here people.

And if you were wondering, like me if any were able to find love, Ellen DeGeneres had 3 of these guys on her show, and only one was married... hmmm.. you can go find that one on your own, I have posted enough videos for one day.

enjoy :)

Registration-venting sesh

This morning I practically had to get up at the crack of dawn-7:30 AM to get ready for registration. This in itself was a little extreme for me. And for all of you out there judging me hardcore right now because i had to get up early, keep in mind that it is my "summer break" right now, and I may or may not have stayed up a little later than I should have making extremely great plans. So keep that in mind as you think your bad thoughts about me. I liked it so much better when we got to do all of the class hassle  at midnight, even though that meant staying up until 4 AM village time, because we're 2 hours ahead. but that's ok, because I went to sleep and woke up with a bright sunny day of knowing my classes were all the way I wanted them to be. Oh well since that isn't the case anymore i'll just deal.
After an hour of sheer panic when everyone else was getting into all of their classes while the site kept logging me off, I finally got in and got what I needed and got the heck outta there. Want to see the schedule I call perfect? Ok!(click on it to see) keep in mind that I'll have one online class. FDENG201. Why? Because I cant deal with sitting through another class. it's easier to just do it all on my own. Not a big deal or anything, but I'll literally be living in the Benson this semester. If you're ever bored, come visit me there. I'm sure they'll give me a cute little space to call my own soon enough.

now my question is, why in the world don't they set up registration differently? instead of making everyone register at one time, why dont they break into different hours according to credits, so people like little me can not being freaking out? how bout those of my friends running for president take my plan into action instead of mass texting, inviting me to voting events, group making and video making. if you do i would love you forever :) and maybe even think about actually voting!

also one little mini thing and then I PROMISE I'll stop complaining.
was anyone aware that there in fact WAS a nutrition option for a cluster?! I was looking today at different clusters and minors and there in fact were a few options for this route. Thanks buddy in the academic office who not only doubted my spanish abilities, but for also telling me that there weren't any options with nutrition in the little city and I would have to transfer to ptown. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm not ok. that's alright though. all should be figured out when the college of ag actually answer their phone calls from me. oh right. i'll let you know if that ever happens.

on another note, today I dressed pretty KLASSY. I was even told by a friend I was the classiest person she knows. What an honor right? Wanna see the outfit? ok.

That would be my outfit for the day. No big deal here in the village, so I didn't really mind going out in public dressed like this this morning.Boy were my parents proud of me today! In fact matching my clothes on the weekdays is pretty much a rarity. Why not dress outrageous when I have the chance, right?

That's all for now folks!

Terrific Tuesday, and other random thoughts

This whole blogging thing is sort of fun. I'm sure it's boring to the rest of you, because there really isn't any substance to this whole ordeal, but that will change once i'm back in the little city. You see one of my roommates and I came up with this idea, cleverly called "Ideas in a Jar". We don't have a jar yet, just ideas but basically its going to cure all boredom or will be the attempt to do so. Some ideas we have

tp someones room
throw a dance party
make a quote wall
skateboard
read magazines at walgreens

and PLENTY more. Seriously i think we have over 40 ideas. some a little more intense than others, but this will be where I post all the happenings when we all reunite and actually go through with this. so wa-la. the purpose of this blog.

also. i want to try something new. it'll be called terrific tuesday. basically like my grateful journal, but on steroids. but just on tuesday. you see i have a little grateful journal, that I list 10 things everyday that I am grateful for. no repeats, so somedays it really makes me have to think about things I'm grateful for. I started this back in November when our Relief Society gave us all grateful journals. Some days are harder than others, but its becoming more of a habit so that's great news right?? anyways here are 2 things that I am WAY grateful for. They've basically shaped this week to be one of the best yet.

1. On Sunday afternoon, after my typical nap (yes, I take naps, sue me) I got the cutest picture text. This little joy:
the message included: B came out of primary with this on the back of her paper! you and c haven't been forgotten!
now you're probably thinking that It's obviously been a long time since i've been around people my own age if this is the best text i've ever gotten. not true. This little now spunky 5 year old is one of my favorite people. I'm so grateful that after not seeing her for a year, that she still remembers me. I'm grateful that because of her, I was able to have tea parties every few weekends and have now learned which candy tastes good dipped in water ( definitely NOT cherry or strawberry flavored). I'm grateful that she taught me to enjoy the little things in life and to have fun with everything. Thanks little one, and let's hope that this drawing was for something good, and not a description of something that scares ya ;)

2.  The second terrific thing that has helped shape this into a great week is one of my best friends,Corinne. We'll now refer to her as Ca-rinny. Why? Because that's what I call her of course. Yesterday she called me and told me the best news I have ever heard, hands down. Now it wouldn't be my place to tell the internet her great news, but just know this. IT WAS THE BEST! I'm so grateful to have carinny around because she'll tell me the things I don't want to hear when she thinks I need to hear it, and is one of the  most caring people i have ever met. I'm so happy carinny (if you ever read this) that things are starting to go your way, and that you'll always be my friend :)

some minor little terrific things that have happened?
-the sun has woken me up the past 2 DAYS! 2 days in a row people, this is a huge, huge deal.
-on thursday it's supposed to be 57 degrees with rain, but nonetheless 57 degrees. hallelujah!
-I ordered my cute top from spool 72 and used my gift card which means its was practically free!
ok enough with my ranting. If you find yourself trying to cure boredom today, try starting a grateful journal :)

What is this, Myspace?

First of all, can I just say that I am proud of how this blog looks? Now if only I could claim that I was able to make it presentable, all on my own. Joke's on me. I suppose one day, if I'm to survive the Mormon world, I better step up my craftiness or I may be shunned from society. In other funny news, I applied to several different jobs on campus by emailing different offices. Today I heard back from the wellness center. I think their rejection email has been the best thus far, simply because of my traumatic experience last year in their office when one of their employees ( who has since graduated) told me that, at 113lbs I had the body fat percentage of 29%, placing me the obese category and only a few percentages away from very high risks. Anyway, another candidate seemed to suit the office better than I did. If that means that their employees are going to shatter more girls' self confidence(mine only was for an hour, and then I ate, well demolished a few candy bars in record breaking time i'm sure) then I'm glad I didn't get an offer to work there.

On to bigger and better things, I suppose.

For the record, the wellness center actually is a great place when you get someone who knows what they're doing.

Ode to the little city out west

So today I was thinking. Alot. alot about that little city out west that i'll be returning to in precisely a month. now i really don't have too many words about heading back, because really i'm not too sure how i feel about it all. By all means I'm glad to be getting out of this little village im in now, because i'm ALWAYS more than happy to leave this place. Don't get me wrong, I do love see my parents all the time and spending the quality time that I get to with them, but that's basically the only reason I come back.If it weren't for them, then i would have no problem never ever coming back. But back to this little city. It's a place where you just have to learn to love that there won't be anything to do there. learn to love the fact that throwing those illegal snowballs out your window will be your thursday, friday, and saturday night. Love that your only food options aren't very great unless you're willing to drive off to that "HUGE" city 30 minutes away. I guess I do really like my little city because 8 1/2 months out of the year, some of my very best friends live there with me. The best friends that you'll have around for the rest of your life. where we have nothing to do, yet we have some of the best times. and to this I say,and realize that ok, i am ready to head back to that little city, to play my all time favorite game of "ok seriously, what the heck are we going to do now"

Friday, March 11, 2011

So I suppose as this is my first blog post, that I should speak profound words, or something insightful. But that's no fun for anyone. Instead i'll say a few things about myself.

My favorite colors are finally narrowed down to two. brink pink and tiffany blue. both exist. check them out on wikipedia if you don't believe me.

I am obssesed with floral prints. From boots to sunglasses to dresses to shirts to earrings and more in different prints. I however don't own any sort of pant/leggings that are floral. I'm working on it though. and it will be classy. I promise.

I have a grateful journal that I write in everynight. It helps me be less dramatic.

I have lived in a small town for the past 9 years. I dont count the past two years as living here because I move around every four months for school. This town will be the death of me. I am dying to live in a city.

On top of living in a city being in a warm city is becoming less and less of a desire as it is a necessity. I can't take the white snow much longer.

enough about me. i'm really quite a boring person and so we'll see how long this will actually continue.
